FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
What is Forge & Crown?
Forge & Crown is a boutique watch brand and micro-atelier focused on artisan timepieces, bespoke commissions, and limited-production branded models. We create watches with attention to design, wearability, finishing, and long-term ownership using selected Japanese, Chinese, and Swiss movements.
What kind of watches does Forge & Crown make?
Forge & Crown creates watches in field, diver, dress, GMT and chronograph styles. Depending on the collection and model, our watches may be offered as ready-to-order designs, bespoke commissioned builds, or limited-production Forge & Crown releases. We list these style categories and the three main paths to ownership.
What is the Artisan Collection?
The Artisan Collection is Forge & Crown's line of ready-to-order artisan watches. These models are developed as finished Forge & Crown designs for clients who want a distinctive watch without going through the full custom commissioning process.
What is a Custom-Forged Timepiece?
A Custom-Forged Timepiece is Forge & Crown's bespoke watch commissioning service. It is designed for clients who want a more personal watch built around their preferred style, proportions, materials and movement through a one-on-one consultation process.
What is the F&C Private Label?
F&C Private Label is Forge & Crown's line of limited-production branded watches that carry the Forge & Crown logo. These are curated small-run branded models with a more fixed identity than a bespoke commission and greater exclusivity than a standard open-ended offering.
What is the difference between the Artisan Collection, Custom-Forged Timepiece, and the F&C Private Label?
Forge & Crown offers three paths to ownership. The Artisan Collection includes ready-to-order artisan watches. The Custom-Forged Timepiece is our bespoke commissioned watch service. F&C Private Label consists of limited-production Forge & Crown logo models released in small runs.
Are Forge & Crown watches custom made?
Custom-Forged Timepieces are bespoke commissioned watches created through consultation. Artisan Collection models are ready-to-order designs. F&C Private Label models are limited-production Forge & Crown releases with more fixed specifications. What is common among them is that they are all individually made, by hand. Nothing is mass-produced.
Can I commission a one-of-one watch?
Yes. Forge & Crown offers one-on-one consultation for clients who want a more personalized watch. We can build a watch around your personal style, including design development to your specifications.
How does the custom commissioning process work?
The process begins with a consultation. From there, the design is developed and refined, and a visual mockup will be presented before parts are ordered. Once components arrive, the watch is assembled by hand, checked for fit and finish, and tested before shipment.
What can be customized on a Custom-Forged Timepiece?
Depending on the project, customization may include the case style, case finish, dial, hands, bezel, bracelet or strap, and movement. Every build is guided by design balance, technical compatibility, and long-term wearability.
How is the final price determined?
Your final price is determined during the consultation based on your chosen components, movement, case, and finishing details. We'll provide a full itemized quote before any payment is required.
What movements does Forge & Crown use?
Forge & Crown uses selected Japanese movements such as Seiko or Miyota, select Chinese movements such as the Seagull or Dandong series, and Swiss movements such as Ronda, Selitta and ETA. Each movement is selected based on the model and the goals of the build.
Why does Forge & Crown use different types of movements?
Different movements suit different designs, budgets, and ownership goals. Movement selection may be based on reliability, serviceability, style, functionality, and the intended character of the watch.
Are Forge & Crown watches assembled by hand?
All Forge & Crown watches are built one at a time, by hand. Nothing is mass-produced.
Are Forge & Crown watches tested before shipment?
Yes. Forge & Crown tests fit and finish, water resistance and stress-testing. Automatic movements are regulated to ensure accurate timekeeping and reliability.
Are Forge & Crown watches ready to ship?
Some watches may be ready-to-order as finished designs, while others may be built through the commissioning process or released in limited-production runs. Availability and lead times will vary based on the build type and parts acquisition.
Can I choose the movement in my watch?
In commissioned projects, movement choice is part of the design process. On Artisan Collection and F&C Private Label watches, the movement is selected for the watch and listed in the product specifications. Some watches may offer two movement options, based on the design of the watch.
What styles does Forge & Crown specialize in?
Forge & Crown specializes in field, diver, dress, GMT, aviation and chronograph watches.
Who is Forge & Crown for?
Forge & Crown is for clients who want a more personal alternative to standard mass-market watches. Some want a ready-to-order artisan design, some want a one-of-one commissioned watch, and some want the exclusivity of a limited-production Forge & Crown release.
Why choose Forge & Crown?
Forge & Crown offers a more personal path to ownership through artisan design, bespoke commissioning, limited-production models, selected movements, and a stronger emphasis on character, finishing, and wearability.
